Well I didn't get icky weather like i prayed for... But I got beautiful weather and I
decided to take a half day off on Friday and go shopping for paint!!! I thought My Farmer won't be able to argue with me if I get paint up on the walls before he got home. So Friday morning I went to work since we weren't going to have a muddy day after all and told the guys to hold down the fort for me cause I was leaving at noon. So I clocked out ate lunch with a friend and headed for Menard's It was so wonderful looking at paints!!! And dreaming of beautiful colored walls in my old farm house.
Well I narrowed it down to 2 brownie tan colors and then picked one out of those 2. And bought a quart to try. Well I was home by 2:30 and painting my kitchen/living room wall by 3:00 and wondering what my hubby was going to say when he saw it... Thanking God that I married a laid back guy!!! And so then I thought I better paint another wall in the living room while I was at it to get the Full affect!! So I painted a wall behind the sofa and next to a window cause I wanted to make sure it matched my curtains too. So by 8:00 everything was back in place except that I had 2 big brown patches on my walls!!! And so I hurried and made
spaghetti for supper (hubby's favorite) and he came in and I said what do you think? Well he said what are you going to do with the border? Well it was obvious to me... Get rid of the damn thing!!!! But my hubby's momma put it up when he bought the house 10 years ago so I
tread ed lightly... Well Ryan it is blue and white checks and our whole living room is actually browns and blues not whites and blues... Good argument right? So he said whatever!!! That is my cue to graciously thank him and kiss him on the cheek and jump up and down cause I got my way!!! I'm still confused on why his mother put that border on the wall considering the paint that was on the wall was like an off white more like a dark ivory and she put up a blue check on bright white background which has driven me
absolutely nuts for the past 3 plus years I've lived there. But in order for me to pull off projects of this magnitude and not have arguments from my dear hubby I must time them during planting or harvest season so I can actually get most of the work done while he is out of the house and not able to put up much of a fight!!! Not that he fights he mostly states that whatever it is I'm wanting is too much work and I get to prove him wrong... Except in
instances where I want to paint behind the fridge and I end up yanking the water line out of the thingy
ma bob and it gets water everywhere... I was
so proud of myself Monday night I got the painting done cause I had taken another 1/2 day off to finish and my mom came to help that afternoon. And behind the fridge was the last place I had to paint. So I rolled it out careful not to pull to hard on the lines and painted everything and hubby came home while it was drying. And said he would roll it back cause I was scared if I pushed it back I might scuff up my freshly painted walls so I pulled the tape down in the living room and did some
touch ups while he was showering. It was about 8:30 by now and I still hadn't gotten supper on and mom hurried to help me get stuff put back in place and my farmer came out of the bathroom and rolled it back into place and he got a glass to get some water from the fridge and realized that it wasn't working. Well I knew
immediately what I had done!!! I had tried to prove that I could work on the house and not cause "too much trouble" and everything would work out. But it didn't and I had really screwed up this time. Well dear darling hubby had to put his boots on to go down to our old bat cave of a basement and when he made it down there and I heard just one
expletive and then he
hollered my name and said yeah you pulled the water line out of some thingy that I can't remember the name of. And water was all over the floor. But all I could think of was thanking God that I had spent the money this summer and bought brand new
Rubbermaid storage containers for all my
Christmas decorations and junk that had been sitting in
cardboard boxes. But I wasn't about to bring that up... After hubby had been working in the field all day and didn't get in till after 8:00 and then he has to clean up a big mess after his wife got a wild hair to "Fix Up the House" so. Hubby came up the stairs soaked cause water was squirting everywhere and said he thought he had what he needed back at the barn. So he ran out the door mom said goodbye and hightailed it to
Gibson co. And I was all alone to think of some way to make it up to him. So I threw some water on to boil and prayed that he had what he needed close by so he could fix it
quick and I wouldn't have to hear him cussing under his breath about painting and decorating a perfectly good house... Well hubby found the thingy
ma bob that he needed back at the shop and had it fixed and by the time he had it fixed I had made him Chicken f
ettucini and he was over being mad about the water cause the house did look fabulous!!! It wasn't bad for a klutzy wife who tries to hard to prove a point
