Welcome! You found me! This is the home of The Flip-Flop Swap: Blog Edition. You might be wondering how I came up with this idea. Well, I promise you - this story will have you on the edge of your flip-flops:
On a hot summer's night in June 2010, I found myself at a book club meeting, admiring a pair of flip-flops from the girl sitting next to me. They had a pretty little bedazzled butterfly on the top of each sandal. And so, I couldn't help myself - I had to ask her where she found those flip-flips. She said that a couple years back, she got a chain letter in the mail. On it was a list of 6 names. All she had to do was buy 1 pair of flip-flops for the girl at the bottom of the list, add her own name to that list, and forward the letter out to 10 or so of her friends. If it worked properly, she would get like 36 or so pairs of flip flops in the mail. She actually ended up just getting 10 pair. But, think about it - she got 10 pairs of flip-flops (including the ones with that cute little butterfly that she was wearing) and all she had to do was buy ONE PAIR and put them in the mail!
So, that got me to thinking ... I'd been blogging for a little while, and I thought to myself - Hey, why can't we do something like this on the blogosphere? So, I blogged about it and asked my readers if they'd be interested in participating. I got a few positive comments, and soon after, with the rules "blog-ified," The Flip-Flop Swap: Blog Edition debuted here. It's all based on the honor system, but then again, so is the chain letter. And besides, I'd like to think that bloggers are friendly, honest folk!
