How I spent my Saturday...

I'm going to warn you there are some OCD traits showing in this post. If you don't think you can deal with that please scroll on...

I have a tendency to not let go of things! By things I mean clothes, jewelry, scarves and shoes and anything else I can think of that I loved at one time or another. And this post will just prove all that.

I was shopping on ruelala.com (fantastic website!!!) The other day and found a fabulous pair of clogs that I had to have. And so I ordered them. And waited patiently for them to arrive... Saturday morning my beautiful, functional and oh so comfortable clogs appeared on my door step! I yanked open the box and sitting inside were my brand spanking new clod hoppers!!!

And I proceeded to take the box to my closet... It was then that I felt this enormous pang of shame! I can't take these oh so cute shoes to this terrible mess of a closet!! So what else should I do on a Saturday but clean out my disaster zone of a closet?
I proceeded to organize my closet! But I not only organized it! I colorized it!! Yes I organized all of my clothing by color...

Can you tell this old Farmer's wife was Uber bored on Saturday?

Do you all see that I have NO LIFE! I find so much enjoyment in doing things like this!! SAD SAD SAD!!! But oh so fun!!!

Yes there is a method to my madness!! I swear!!

I know my shelves are not color correct I actually put the colors that I wear the most closer to me... Me being 5 ft 5 inches I thought it would be better to do it that way. I'm not a huge fan of oranges and yellows so those are the least accessible to me...

How many red plaid shirts are a farmer's wife allowed to own?

I love red plaid!! I don't understand my reason for loving it so much?

The first shirt is a vintage farmer's shirt! I love wearing this with jeans. It's so stinking cute!!

Oh and I LOVE LOVE pearl snap button shirts! I swoon for Snap buttons!!! But I will delve into that in another post!!

Why does she always have to look so evil? Missy really is a funny cat! She just looks like my evil Supervisor!!

Now while I was doing all this organizing I found quite a few skeletons in this closet... I'm warning you ahead of time these are some pretty bizarre skeletons!!! I may lose all of my followers by putting this pictures up!

There is nothing wrong with AC/DC I was just happy to find my Shirt again!!

I don't even remember where these came from... I really don't know why I still have them. Probably because they are hearts and I LOVE hearts!

These are not Dorothy's Slippers although Dorothy lived on a farm and I live on a farm... Indiana has tornado's and we all know that Kansas has them too!!!

These shoes are actually owned by my wonderful Mother In Law. I borrowed them about 2 years ago when I dressed up as Dorothy for a Halloween Party. I just keep forgetting to return them to her! But actually deep down I just want to keep them cause they are so freaking cute!!!

This is my baby brother's base ball glove... I used it when I played softball on a family league for all of 3 months. It was the 1st and last time I ever played ball. It was a fun summer though! I never knew how to throw a ball before that!

And this is a Belly Dancing scarf. Why I have a belly dancing scarf I know not! I have great dreams of being thin enough to wear it for my hubby and actually doing a dance in it... But at this point in my life it would be more like a blubber dance, instead of a belly dance!!

If you made it thus far you should be given a star or a pair of ruby slippers or something! But I'm not sharing!!! Love you all so much!!!

The Homestead

I had to stop by my parents house on my way home last night and help my dad. He was needing my assistance with getting some computer things figured out. And getting his computer printer working again. My dad is just learning how to work with computers so it's been quite comical. My parents are in their mid fifties and live out in the sticks. I actually grew up in this log home. My father built it in 1976.

It had been snowing all day but it was just beginning to stick and I wanted you all to see my childhood home. So I took some pictures before I went it to share with all of you.

My siblings and I grew up in the woods. Running around like little chickens. We had forts built into the sides of gullies, Tree houses and grapevine swings all over my family's property. My dad even built us a tee pee down by a fire pit. We had so much fun here. You can't see how cool this place really is because the browns of the trees and the dead grass are just overpowering right now. But I will try and post a better picture if we get more snow this week.

When my sister and I were in our teens we would have the greatest Christmas parties here. Our friends christened my families home as "The Homestead." After my sister and I got older and moved out. The Christmas parties came to a halt we weren't around much anymore. But this past Christmas we actually got to have an old time Christmas party again! My brother was able to come home for Christmas this year. It had been several years since he had been home on Christmas. So it was very heart warming to have him home again. I couldn't believe all the people we had stuffed into that little house. We had over 80 people there!! It was almost like the house was smiling that night... I believe that some homes have a spirit and I love the spirit that this home has.

It's quite strange going home to your childhood home as an adult. I feel like I'm going to bump into the 9 year old version of myself hiding in my old closet. Knowing me, she would probably stick her tongue out at me and run away laughing at the old fat lady!

What is it like for you, when you go back to your childhood home?
Does it feel different somehow? Or is it just another house?
And did your mother/father create a "shrine" of you, in your old room or did you take all your stuff with you when you left?

Want a Laugh?

I tend to be late to everything in my life... I don't know why! I try and try and try to be early but I never quite accomplish it. At work I tend to be 3 to 5 minutes late every morning. I sit at a desk all day long so I make up for it. I don't usually get out of here till well after 4:00. So all last week I had my my appt card for my dentist taped to my office phone. It was just a cleaning/check up. I have been seeing this dentist since I was probably 10 or 11. So his whole staff know me well. When I got married I actually had to bring my wedding photos in so the girls could all look them over... Yes small town Indiana!! You got to love it!! So Last Friday I turned my phone off and mentally told myself to tell my co workers I will be coming in late to work on Monday because I had a 7:45 appt... (I heard several um Later then Normals?) And I would try to be here by 9:00. The town I have to drive to for my Dentist appt is actually 30 min away from my home and in a different time zone. So this morning I get all my crap together and TRY to leave in enough time to get to my appt... Well me being ME I ended up having to speed all the way there and I pulled into the parking lot at 7:48... Which is not too bad for me! I walk in sign the sheet. I notice only one other patient is sitting in the waiting room. And I sit down and he shares the paper with me. Then I see the nurse pull the sign up sheet into the office. And she and the receptionist are talking and pointing on the computer screen. And then one of the girls calls in the other patient and takes him back. I figure it will be a good little bit before I'm called so I settle in. And then the glass slides back and my dentist's wife says Mrs. Farmer you aren't down until tomorrow!!

I felt my mouth fall open and the paper I was reading landed in heap on the chair next to me. I had mental flash of that damn little appt card stuck to my phone... And I remembered that it did say Jan 26th! And all I could do was just laugh!! I couldn't help my self!! Then she began to laugh. And she says well we may able to wiggle you in if the next appt doesn't show up... But I have a feeling he probably will. So we stand and laugh about how I'm such an idiot and how I was positive the card said Monday!!... But I was pretty sure now that it said the 26th. She thanked me for being so easy going about it. She said it happens all the time and most of the time the patients get really ticked off!! And then blame the girls for messing it up!! I know I'm an idiot and I'm not about to blame someone who does this everyday and then tell her she is the one at fault! When I'm the idiot who can't read!!!
So I sit down and wait for the 8:00 appt to arrive and she checks her voicemail to see if there were any cancellations. And thankfully there was one!! A lady cancelled her appt for 4:15. And Mrs. Dentist asked if I would rather come back tomorrow morning or come back this afternoon? I said this afternoon would be so much better cause I work 15 minutes away and I get off at 4:00 so I would have to head out a whole lot earlier in the morning then I usually do. So I was happy my screw up got fixed. And I think that it will be easy to slip right back down here and no one will be the wiser...
So I head back out on the main highway thinking I will just keep this little screw up under my hat and not tell any one....

Not 5 miles later I see My Hubby heading south in one of the semi's and he flashes his headlights at me... I'm busted!!! Mr. Farmer was hauling grain to E-ville and here I thought he was going to be in Terre Haute all day. But he wasn't and he knew what time my appt was!!
And here I am headed to work at 8:05!! He calls and says what's going on? I'm laughing hysterically!! I said so much for trying to keep my screw ups to myself!! And he says your appt isn't today is it?!!! I said no! How did you guess? He just laughed and said I guess you will be getting to work at your usual time then right? I said no!! It will be later then normal!! But I will be late getting home tonight!! He laughed and told me he loved me. I told him the only reason he married me was so he could laugh every day!! He told me that's the truth!!!

Man I love that man!!!

I'm slowly coming out of my coma...

I fell off the face of the earth!! Yes I did!! I have fallen and I'm just starting to get up...

I think I just got into a funk of not wanting to deal with all the crap going on. So I just shut it out of my head (thinking like I usually do) that I would deal with it later...

My checking account got hacked into and over $600 was stolen from me... That took about 2 weeks to resolve. So thank God that is over! Then the company I work for thought it would be fun to change our whole sales software. They didn't give our customers any warning. Much less a warning for us. It was a VERY bad decision and in the end it has come back to bite them but has caught all us lowly sales people in the cross hairs. And yet again 2 other friends are pregnant. I found out recently and it hit me pretty hard. Both of these women have 4 children each already. And they have hardly any means of supporting the children they do have and yet they are adding another one to the brood. And I'm supposed to be happy about this?!!!!

On a happier note the Chemo for my Mother In law has been making short work of her tumor and hopefully in a matter of weeks, possibly days she will be undergoing surgery to remove it.

My husband and I have been taking care of her creatures... She is the female equivalent of Dr. Doolittle. Her animals miss her tremendously! I never thought too much of the relationship of human to animal until now. I really think it is an amazing bond, I have been privileged to witness over the past few months. You can tell that the horses know she is ill. She isn't always able to go with us to feed. But when she does they are gentler with her. They don't rush her like they used to when she was strong and healthy.

I think I'm becoming more aware of things lately. I don't know if I'm just coming into my own or aging or what is happening to me? But I had this A-ha moment yesterday at work when one of my co workers was complaining about how his wife got mad at him for leaving something where it wasn't supposed to be. I guess she just jumped all over him for it. I listened to his story for a bit and went back to my office thinking life is entirely too short for that crap. I never thought that I was a non-confrontational person? But I thought what good comes from bitching out your husband for putting his brief case on the hall table instead of under it? I guess I value the peace that Mr farmer and I have in our little life together too much. That just I don't see the point in getting all worked up over something so petty.

I know I'm rambling but I just thought I would put a thought into every one's head about maybe instead of bitching about something we can fix easily ourseleves. Maybe we should just do it and then just enjoy the peace from not being the nagging one...

Please flame me or comment I want your thoughts!

Can it suck ANYMORE?

I would like to talk to you all today about Identity Theft. I have been up to my elbows in a mess!! Our New Years started out with a bang!! We found out that our Joint Checking Account got hacked into... I feel so naked and exposed! I can't believe it happened!! As of a few hours ago they had gotten almost $500.00!! I can't understand why people feel the need to take what doesn't belong to them!!!

All I can say is I'm glad it was our play account. My husband and I just used this account for my spending or for online purchases. It was pretty much my account I would transfer money over from our other account to buy groceries gas or presents. We didn't pay bills out of this account. But it's still the fact that I have had to deal with the headache of opening another account, alerting the bank, the bank having to flag my account and stopping all transactions. Then after all that not having a freaking debit card to use!!!! I have never in my life had to walk up to a bank counter and write a check for cash! I never had to do that before! I always used my debit card in the ATM if I needed cash! Now I feel like I have fallen back into the 1950's!!! I have to go to the grocery store tonight with just cash!! I will actually have to track my purchases to make sure I don't go over the amount in my purse. I feel so weird!! Sorry I'm just so flabbergasted today!!! I always thought I was careful in my use of credit cards and the like. But I guess anyone can fall victim to Identity theft!

I'm sorry this had to be my first post back after several weeks being MIA please forgive me!! My brother came home for the holidays. I took off while he was home so we could spend some time together. It was great to have him around for a little while. He is actually stationed in Hawaii in the Navy. He was hoping we would get a huge snow storm while he was home since he hasn't seen snow for a few years now. But the one time we got a slight dusting of snow he actually slept in and it melted before he woke up... Poor kid!!! I have some pictures I need to up load from all the family time we got in while he was home. I'm actually familied out!! If that is a word? If not I declare this a new word!!! I love my family but goodness gracious I need my space. I don't count Hubby in all that. I always need him. And he doesn't get under my skin like my dear old bi polar mama.... Wow have I missed blogging!! Well gals I promise to get back on the wagon and post pictures and wonderfully quirky farm antics soon!!!

Love to you all
Mrs. Farmer

XOXOXOXOX
